This 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 is a national award-winning, well-documented, and well-optioned muscle car that is perhaps the nicest example that we've ever seen. The 442 was initially introduced in 1964 as the high-performance option package Oldsmobile's Cutlass line and became its own model in 1968 due to its substantial popularity. Oldsmobile fans of course know that the name "442" stood for, 4 Barrel, 4 Speed, Dual Exhaust, though as the 442 line progressed Oldsmobile began offering additional options to the popular car. First introduced in 1966, the W-30 Package brought even greater performance upgrades to an already powerful machine and was targeted to the drag racing crowd. Olds built very few W-30s in 1966, but by 1970 the secret was out that the W-30 was an awesome car. To many, 1970 was the peak year for Oldsmobile performance. The engines got more power and the cars got lighter for the W-30 cars, making them a mean machine on the streets. After this particular W-30 underwent its extensive professional frame-off rotisserie restoration, was judged nationally in both the Junior and Senior divisions for the Oldsmobile Club of America, receiving a 998/1000 score and two 999/1000 scores, and winning the Senior Preservation Award, Best in Class Award, and the D. Dale Smith Memorial Award which was presented by Joe Mondello. Under the W-25 low-weight fiberglass hood on this W-30 is a Rocket 455 Cubic Inch V8 Engine with a single 4 barrel carburetor and W-25 Ram Air Induction that pushed out 370 horsepower in its day. The 455 motor is also equipped with the W-30 specific aluminum intake and the world-famous "F" heads. The 455 V8 is mated to a Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 Automatic Transmission with a his/her console-mounted shifter. One of the most distinguished W-30 features are the red fender wells that gave these cars a truly distinctive look. This '70 442 W-30 is extremely well-optioned. The 455 V8 sends power through the rear axle through the very rare W-27 Aluminum Axle Carrier and Cover that reduced weight and thus improved performance. Driving this Olds W-30 is an absolute joy since it is outfitted with the N-47 option, Power Steering. JL2 Power Front Disc Brakes provide plenty of stopping power for the powerful powertrain on this 1970 442 W-30. The Galleon Gold exterior paint and black vinyl roof are absolutely stunning and are correct for this W-Machine. This W-30 sits on 4 Firestone Wide Oval G70-14 Tires that are wrapped around gorgeous Super Stock II rims. The interior in this award-winning muscle car is in amazing condition and is loaded with options. The front black vinyl bucket seats and the black rear bench seat are exactly how this car was ordered from the Lansing Plant and they are in superb condition. This W-30 is equipped with the C-60 option, Air Conditioning which makes cruising super comfortable. The power options on this car are incredible and include power windows, power seats, and even an electric trunk release button in the glove box. Perhaps the most unique options on this car is that it has the T44 interior hood lock, tucked neatly under the dash. This classic Olds is equipped with the U21 Rally-Pack Instrument Cluster with a 120 MPH Speedometer, Tachometer, Temperature Gauge, Oil Pressure Gauge, and Fuel Gauge. With an AM/FM/8-Track entertainment system, you can listen to all of your tunes cruising down the road. Whether you're looking for your first muscle car or you're an avid collector, this 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 is an excellent choice. Give us a call today!
