    Description

Offered for bidding is a lovely ceramic handled urn-shaped PLANTER made by Brush Pottery. It has a beautiful glossy brown drip glaze, called Onyx Glaze, and I'm told it was made sometime between the 1910s to the 1930s. The glaze on this one is unusual, including colors of blue and white as well as brown, and the drips appear mostly on the top half of the planter. Perhaps an experimental color variant? Planter is well made, and quite heavy.
It measures 9 inches (22.9cm) from handle to handle, and stands 6 1/4 inches (15.9cm) tall at the rim. Opening in the top is 4 1/2 inches (11.4cm) in diameter. A U.S. quarter is shown in the first four pictures, to give an accurate impression of the size at a glance.
The planter has damage and is sold AS IS. Rim and handles have been banged around a lot, and have surface flakes/chips. They are missing some of their glaze (picture 5). Fortunately the drip glaze hides these flaws unless the handles are examined closely. There are no chips anywhere else on the planter, and no cracks, repairs, deep scratches, fading or discoloration. There is barely visible all-over crazing of the glaze.
