    History to Note:
”The Rudolph Wurlitzer Company of Cincinnati and Chicago
was Heberlein's main agent for many years, and in their catalogues, they would refer to him as
"the greatest violin maker in Germany" with the
"highest grades acknowledged to be the grandest tone instruments produced."
Reference: The Rudolph Wurlitzer Company Catalog 1907,

“In the latter 19th. and early 20th. centuries,
there were thousands of mostly anonymous violin makers in eastern Germany and western Bohemia
around the town of Markneukirchen, involved in the violin trade. At that time, there was a huge demand for musical instruments especially
in this country. There was no TV, radio, movies or recordings to provide entertainment, so people had to create their own.
Next to the piano, the violin was the most popular musical instrument.
If you look at Sears and Montgomery Ward catalogs of that era, you will see page after page of violins selling
from about .00 to over .00. To meet this demand, a small area in the state of Saxony turned out something
like 200,000 string instruments a year for several decades ( up to WW1).
Most of these violins had reproduction labels of the great Italian makers of the 17th. and 18th. centuries
and this is what confuses everyone who is not involved in the violin world.
These labels were not meant to defraud anyone, but only to indicate the model the violin was based on.
You can also think of them as a form of decoration. Over the years, as the instruments get some age and wear, and the labels darken,
the confusion increased. One clue that may be useful: After 1891, anything exported to the United States
were required to have the country of origin indicated somewhere on the item.
    The German and Bohemian instruments
will usually have "made in Germany", "made in Czechoslovakia" etc. on the label.
Before that, there was no such requirement.
The best instruments from that area often were labeled with the name of the maker or workshop.
The Ernst Heinrich Roth, Heinrich Heberlein, E.Reinhold Schmidt and others made
excellent quality instruments that are in demand these days.”

    Gently wiped with microfiber cloth
to avoid removing any existing patina or character,
deeper polishing/varnishing, if warranted, is left to your
    professional
    discretion and personal preference.
    This is a
pre-owned string instrument, of antique age,
    and
    will show signs of
    regular wear normal to its
careful and respected use and storage.
However, this violin’s sound is well preserved,
body is in good playing condition, and strings
    finely tuned.
Varnish shows moderate wear and lightness
from wrist/hand rub at all natural contact areas.
Antique leather case shows it’s age with heavy scratching, scuffing,
oxidation at hardware, and missing mass around band edging.
Purple velvet interior shows discoloration, peeling,
rubbing, and fabric loss. Green tape name tag affixed to exterior.
Case compartment houses extra strings, bridges, chin rest, rosin boxes,
    and vintage business cards of
a piano player and violin maker.
Although not very pretty, case latches work,
    hinges are secure,
and the shell functions as intended.
Magnified photos of areas of note have been
    included for you review.
Scroll and pegs are in good order.
Bridge measures 42mm and reads Aubert A Mirecourt France.
Mother of Pearl inlaid, horse hair bow is intact and in good order -
fairly straight, nice camber, and good balance.
    Marked Germany, bow has
    six sided shaft,
weighs 61 grams, measures 26½ inches, and dates prior to WWII.
Obviously a well loved instrument, passed through many generations.
Over 100 years of practices and performances.
    Aged well with warm sound.
    Will shipped tuned.
    Ready to play.
