Additional information about the maker:
Ludwig (II) Glaesel was born 10.4.1872 in Marktneukirchen and died 3.10.1941. Son and pupil of Ludwig (I) Glaesel. In his 16th year he joined C.Grimm in Berlin, where he worked independently in every side of the business. In 1899 he opened his own workshop in Berlin-Charlottenburg and was quickly recognised. Did repairs but also made new violins and strings. An excellent craftsman.
The violin bears his original Ludwig Gläsel Jr. label, which is dated 1930. This fine Ludwig Gläsel violin was made of very interesting and well-chosen tonewoods. Highly transparent golden-orange-brown oil varnish underlines the impressive, narrow flames of the two-piece maple back, ribs and scoll. The top is made of medium grained spruce with a very fine texture; only minor traces of use speak of an almost than 100 years of the instrument´s history. The expressive self-confident shape of the body and scroll and the skillfully crafted arching are the clear work of an experienced master: experience that created a fine quality, individual violin with a unique sound that is radiant and sweet. This fine Ludwig Gläsel jr. violin is an impressive instrument that is offered in perfect condition, ready to play.
The violin is listed with local pickup only. However, you can message me and we can work something out for shipping.
