This product is suitable for persons who operate a recreational camping vehicle, own a timeshare or vacation condominium, have a vacation cabin or appreciate clean water when camping.
The filtration media selected by HydroTec as an Iron removal agent is a black filter media that has the capabilities of removing soluble iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell), arsenic and radium from water supplies. At the end of a service cycle (determined by the number of gallons treated), the unit is backwashed and then regenerated downflow (in a manner similar to sodium cycle softening) with a solution of the oxidant selected. This will restore the oxidative capacity of this media. Depending on raw water conditions, the regeneration level should be 2-4 ounces/cubic foot (2.12 - 4.24 grs/L) of this iron removal media. It is recommended that regeneration be initiated prior to complete exhaustion of the filter. This is important to extend the service life.
The media HydroTec has selected is made of manganese dioxide coated surface of the media acts as a catalyst in the oxidation reduction reaction of iron and manganese. The media has a silica sand core which allows it to withstand operating conditions in waters that are low in silica, TDS and hardness. HydroTec employs this media so that aluminate feed is not needed. HydroTec’s selected media is effective at higher operating temperatures and higher differential pressures than ordinary manganese greensand. Tolerance to higher differential pressure can provide for longer run times between backwashes and a greater margin of safety.
