Vintage Brush Planter Pastel Green USA #801 Oval Shape Ribbed Sides

Description

This vintage Brush pottery (#801) planter is oval shaped with ribbed sides and is a lovely pastel shade of green. Made in the USA, it measures approximately 6 1/2” long, 3 1/2” wide and 3” tall. The planter is 2 1/2” deep and the base measures approximately 4 1/4” long by 2 1/2” wide.
The planter is in excellent vintage preowned condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or crazing. As with most vintage pottery, there are a few small places inside where the paint did not fully adhere and some manufacturing marks but these are all under the glaze. Also one of the feet is not fully formed, however this does not affect the way it sits, and part of it has paint and glaze on it (all shown in the photos). One of the ‘long’ sides of the planter bows in slightly but this would have happened during the manufacturing process and may have been intentional.
A bit of history.....in 1918, the McCoy family sold their interest in the Brush – McCoy Pottery; however, it was not until late 1925 that the directors of the pottery dropped the McCoy name. The new name of the pottery was the Brush Pottery Co., and it operated under that name until it closed in 1982.
