Domestic comedy “Successor” stays atop China’s box office chart

BEIJING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) — Domestic comedy “Successor” continued to top the Chinese mainland’s daily box office on Wednesday, grossing approximately 20.38 million yuan (about 2.85 million U.S. dollars), according to the China Movie Data Information Network.
It was followed by the Chinese animated film “White Snake: Afloat” on the daily box office chart, which raked in about 17.93 million yuan on Wednesday.
Realistic drama “Upstream” came in third with 17.87 million yuan in revenue on the day.
The total box office revenue on the Chinese mainland on Wednesday was 78.21 million yuan. ■
